This is amazing story of my people. As yoruba my self and well traveled, i was so much draw to the orisha and my tradition. And this calling is becoming more and more powerful, that i interpret dream, i can feel if something is going to happen. And all kind of knowledge just awaking in me. I need help. I was suprise after seen ile Ife in the film. Ile Ife is just 25 minute from my home town. And I am sure your ancestor are yoruba. That is why the spirit of ancestor invoke in you, to take this ancestral path in life. I will like to meet you, because i have a lot in me to share.

Greetings James,
I am looking forward to learning more of this film, that will reveal another portion of our great and wonderful African culture. I will continue to support all of my brother’s and sister’s that bring forth the truth that has been hidden from so many of us, for too long.

Hi Chinue,
Greetings! Thanks for visiting Across The King’s River! The trailer has been up and running and still is on the website. If you’re not able to view it – it’s because you are probably missing a “plug-in” on your computer. You should receive an error message that tells u what plug-in you need. Everyone else is able to view the trailer right now. Let me know if you have other questions.

Kathleen, thanks for all the love and support! Thanks for all the wonderful ideas! And we will definitely take you up on your offer for screenings and fundraising in the D.C. area. Yes, we are familiar with Kickstarter and may explore that avenue in the future. Again, truly appreciate you and feel welcome to visit us often. We always write back. Light and love to you!!

I should have written that many contributors wanted nothing in return. Others received things like movie posters, a DVD of the film short, postcards, etc. Since you have an original musical score, CDs would be a great addition to that list of enticements.

I’m excited about this film! One of the most glaring omissions in your presentation, however, is the fact that the website is silent. I note on your Facebook page a reference to the composer. Why is not even a snippet of his music playing in the background here? African people — we respond to rhythms, to music. I like the website — but it could be so much richer. Also, have you sought/gotten any support from Ben Okri? Different cultural tradition, but perhaps not so much.
Another possibility for helping fund the project is http://www.kickstarter.com. Several film projects have been funded successfully using the venture capital website. I believe they take a 3% cut. (I call it “venture capital for the people, by the people.”) I don’t know if your fundraising guy has suggested it. If he hasn’t, he’s not earning whatever it is you’re paying him. A Black film about Atlanta raised a sizable sum — far more than its stated goal — and donors wanted nothing in return. Here’s the link to its page. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/LeavingAtlanta/leaving-atlanta-the-film?ref=live
When my next paycheck arrives, you’ll get a donation from moi. I’m in D.C. If I can be of any assistance (screenings, fundraising, arranging interviews, etc.), let me know.
Peace and blessings.
Kathleen
