Just Take The Next Step

Bermuda was amazing…

And life changing. I went to Bermuda to promote my book, Meditations Across the King’s River and to do readings for clients.

I had so many sacred encounters. I’m still reflecting on the lessons I’ve learned, the love I felt, and the wisdom I shared.

Don’t get me wrong…

It wasn’t a vacation by any means.

In fact, I worked almost every day during my month-long stay on the island.

But I definitely left Bermuda feeling more inspired about my calling as a writer and healer.

I have more faith there’s is a Higher Power and a divine plan for our lives.

We can all tap into this Higher Power; We can all have more impact.

After Bermuda, I’m even more devoted to following inspiration and my calling.

I wish you could feel what I feel inside.

More joy! More gratitude! More clarity! I pray you experience these gifts too.

This photo with my friend, Alexa, was taken at John’s Smith Bay Beach, early one morning.

We didn’t swim. The water is too cold for swimming this time of year, she explained.

So we just walked and talked for a bit.

Alexa is a brilliant mind, a beautiful soul, and a great friend.

I love how she navigates through life. She’s not afraid to take chances. She speaks her mind.

She knows what she wants. She’s going after it.

Take a tip from Alexa.

You don’t have to be afraid to take chances either. This is your season. You deserve more!

Stop waiting for the perfect time. Stop waiting for another sign. You saw the sign already.

Go where you feel led. Just take the next step. Let the ancestors do the rest.

Another chapter is waiting for you. A universe beyond this universe.

It’s time for you to explore it.

If you don’t have the second edition of my book, Meditations Across the King’s River, we would love your support.

It’s a powerful collection of affirmations, insights and African-inspired wisdom.

MATKR was the number one new release on Amazon in two categories when it launched in January.

It has been featured in more than two hundred media outlets including Business Insider and Asia One, a leading media provider in Singapore.

Finding Peace Within!

beachIf there’s no peace in within, you’ll drift off course…

And you might end up pursuing the wrong things, or the wrong people, or the wrong dreams!

So important to get back on course! So important to find that center of peace within. So important to understand that there’s no need for outside validation.

I’ve been thinking about inner peace a lot lately…

And that’s because I decided to step away from folks who are not healthy for me.

It wasn’t an overnight decision, and I can’t say it was an easy decision.

But it was the right decision, and I’m happy.

As you examine your life and those in your circle, ask yourself.

1. Do you feel energized after interacting with them?

2. Do you feel empowered after interacting with them?

3. Do you feel inspired after interacting with them?

4. Do you feel respected while interacting with them?

If the answers to most of these questions are NO, or if you notice a pattern of feelilng drained or depressed after interacting with certain people, it might be time to step away.

Your Spirit will thank you for it! You’ll be happy for it!

Happy New Year

10421423_10152372958603414_3560399596066537405_n (3)It’s a new day; a new time; a new year!

I’m excited about all the possibilities and I hope you are too.

I believe 2015 can be your year if you’re willing to take risks and try new things.

There’s no reason to think that things must remain the same…

Hell No!

You are NOT destined to struggle all your life in a job that you hate, nor stay in a relationship you’ve outgrown, nor remain in any crippling, emotional, spiritual, physical or financial state that has been holding you back.

It’s time for a new script! A new you!

Here are some tips to help ensure 2015 is your year!

Let it go! Stop beating yourself up for the mistakes of 2014. News Flash. It’s not 2014. Every minute that you spend dwelling in the past robs you from seeing all the opportunities and blessings in the present that are trying to come your way.

Stop putting things off. Stop thinking you have all the time in the world to pursue your dreams. You don’t! A close friend, who is ill, recently learned he may only have a few weeks left to live. Every second counts. So write that book; build that business; mentor that child; take that vacation; pick up the phone and heal that relationship. Do what you’ve been meaning to do, but haven’t gotten around to it.

Know who you can count on! That was one of the big lessons for me in 2014. What an eye-opener! You need to know who really has your back, and who’s just talk and no action! The truth may surprise you, but it can also set you free.

Move closer to Spirit. Hugely important! We live in a world where we’re expected to pursue all things except our own connection with Spirit and the innate wisdom that flows every day within for free. Take time out for prayer, meditation, silence, ritual, yoga, journaling, exercise or any activity that lifts your spirit and helps you forge that connection to the divine.

I would love to hear about your dreams for 2015, so shoot me an email at james@acrossthekingsriver.com and let me know what’s up.

Or let me know what’s not up in 2015…

You’ll get a personal response from me, and you can count on my support.

May the ancestors bless you from the north, the south, the east and the west!.

Love,

James Weeks

Is Your Life in Balance?

A balance of cosmic forces in your life…

That’s what the Ifa spiritual tradition is all about – balance. “If it’s too hot, cool it down. And if it’s too cool, heat things up,” my mentor, the late Dr. Afolabi Epega, once said to me during divination training.

Baba Epega, a 5th generation Ifa priest, also said: things should neither be too positive nor too negative.

What’s wrong if things are flowing too positively (or smoothly) for you? A lot of folks struggle with that spiritual concept. Where’s the harm in that?

From Ifa’s point of view, if everything is going smoothly (positively), how can you grow? How can you reach your full potential? How can you develop faith?

Too much positivity lulls you into a sense of complacency – it dulls spiritual awareness…

Though we dislike negativity, it can provide the impetus we need to move in the right direction. Sometimes you have to be forced to do what’s good for you. The negativity on your job, might force you to find a job that’s more fulfilling.

Same thing for the negativity in your relationship. It might inspire you to question why you’re in the relationship in the first place.

Don’t be too quick to curse the negativity that has appeared in your life. Negativity isn’t always your enemy, sometimes it can be your best friend, a blessing in disguise.
